Thirty thousand football fans will pack into Bankwest stadium tonight for the highly anticipated top of the table Sydney derby between Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC.

Both teams have looked in great form this season and are undefeated after the first two rounds of the league.

The Sydney derby has become one of the biggest fixtures in the Hyundai A-league since the teams’ first meeting seven years ago.

Fox Sports presenter Adam Peacock believes the sold-out match will be one to remember.

“Those in football have a fair idea of what’s coming in terms of an atmosphere that will blow your sense, and those who might happen to get interested will be hauled in by a white hot atmosphere,” he told Hatch.

“Put simply, Bankwest is the greatest ground for football ever built in Australia, and the noise, and colour and little bit of magic in the air will make this event one of the best in recent times.”

Sydney FC have a more impressive record against the red and blacks, however this will be the first time in the competition they have met their rivals at the first-class Bankwest stadium.

The sibling banter on the pitch between the McGowan brothers Ryan and Dylan will be evident as both defenders will be fighting to keep the back-line concrete.

Sky Blue Alex Baumjohann will be out to create some chances against his old team in the hope of putting one in the back of the net.

There is a lot to be excited about for The Wanderers with some key players to make a difference in the line-up.

German Alex Meier looks in great form with his brilliant finish against Melbourne Victory last week and improved fitness over the first two rounds.

New signing Nicolai Muller has been named in the squad with forward Bruce Kamau and defender Patrick Ziegler both returning from injury.

Kick-off for tonight’s match is 7.30pm.
