Entertainment news in brief – Taylor Swift comes down under

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have touched down in Sydney after three weeks of travelling in America and Europe.

The couple landed in Sydney earlier this morning and are due to catch a connecting flight to the Gold Coast where Hiddleston will take on his latest star role in Marvel’s superhero movie, Thor: Ragnarok. After three weeks of dating, Australia will be the fourth country that the couple have been spotted in.

Margot Robbie’s Vanity Fair profile outrages readers

Outraged readers have taken to social media after a controversial cover interview of Australian actress Margot Robbie was published in Vanity Fair. Richard Cohen, Vanity Fair’s contributing editor, snubbed Australia describing it as “America 50 years ago, sunny and slow, a throwback”.

The article was also criticised for being overly suggestive in the way Cohen described Robbie: “She is 26 and beautiful, not in that otherworldly, catwalk way but in a minor knock-around key, a blue mood, a slow dance … She can be sexy and composed even while naked but only in character”.

The backlash continued on social media around the world, with many Twitter users tweeting messages of ridicule to Vanity Fair– Vivien Wickham
